Australian Petroleum International Exploration and Development (APIED) is a privately owned business established in 2004. The business was originally established to pursue oil and gas opportunities in the Middle East, however the primary focus of the business has changed to the development of new energy technologies utilising Thorium as well as alternative end uses for coal and gas apart from burning them to create energy.

APIED comprises a former senior Australian politician and former civil servants as well as individuals with science and engineering and geological backgrounds.

APIED has close working relationships with the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO), the University of Queensland and Deakin University in Victoria.
